Computer Setup

|CENTRA|_'s IT Support installs operating systems in member's computers. We provide this service to both permanent members and long-term visitors. Please check your  :doc:`Membership Type </membertypes>` to see if you're entitled.

Computer Setups
***************

These are the Operating Systems that we support and install.

Keep in mind that you can have both operating systems installed as a dual-boot environment. 

Linux
-----

|CENTRA|_ can install many linux distributions. Usually we install the latest Stable Ubuntu version. At the moment, CENTRA only provides support to Ubuntu/Debian based linux distributions.

Windows
-------

CENTRA installs and gives support to Windows 7 Operating Systems. 

Computer Formats
****************

We can format your computer and reinstall the operating system(s) for you if needed.

If you need any files/folders backed up from the computer that is being formated, you must specify them in the request e-mail template.

Note: You should refer these files even if you have a :doc:`Backup Service </support/systems/backups>` active.
